Company founder Graham Skimming is a musician, Engineer and qualified and experienced Luthier/ Guitar Technician based in Cumbria, UK.
Graham built his first guitar in 1995 at the age of 15 as a school GSCE project for which he was awarded a grade A in Design & Technology. Following an engineering apprenticeship he went on to study guitar making and electronics at the prestigious Leeds College of Music and graduated with a HND in Musical Instrument Technology with distinction in 2003. He went on to start his own business making and repairing instruments and secured regular work from the likes of Overwater, Northern Sounds and many respected Cumbrian musicians.
Graham has had the privilege of working with and being mentored by some of the best in the business including Ted Lee, Shane Haigh (The String Surgeon), Hadyn Williams (Williams Guitars and Overwater Basses), Chris May (Overwater Basses) and Pavel Burres (BSG Guitars).
In parallel to all this Graham has furthered his career in engineering and has achieved higher national qualifications in Electrical and Electronic Engineering, Computer Aided Design and is a member of the Institution of Engineering and Technology (MIET).
Tonelabs Limited are now in their tenth successful year of trading specialising in the design of high integrity control, electrical and instrumentation systems and Graham strives to apply the same levels of quality, innovation and attention to detail to his instruments.
