The Visceral aims for the middle ground between chambered, solid bodied guitars and semi-hollow guitars such as the ES-335 and Rick 380. On the face of it, it is a semi-hollow bodied guitar... however it boasts a twist! It is actually through-neck with a sitka spruce top. One advantage with this construction is that it does'nt suffer the same howling feedback problems which are usually experienced with the aformentioned semi-hollow guitars.
The spruce top adds a subtle, deep, earthy and organic element acoustically which once amplified via the special hand wound, F5 ceramic humbuckers, translates into a range of available sounds anywhere from mild and mellow to absolutley savage.
The one-piece, quarter sawn Sapele Mahogany through-neck aids in transferring vibration evenly across the whole frequency range through the entire instrument.
Originally this was intended to be a one-off custom build known as "Snowy White" designed for Afghan Whigs front man Greg Dulli, The Visceral Custom closely follows the original spec.
